    About

Food from the minds of an engineer, scientist, and anyone else who's inclined to do some crazy multitasking in the kitchen...

Rabbit%20Ears_cropped.jpgSome food is just weird.  Not bad, but out of the norm.  However, in this case when I say weird, I really mean nasty.  This is the food that has a good reason for not being consumed by the public at large.  Things like brains and goat testicles come to mind.  (And yes I’ve seen people eat both… on TV.)  And I don’t care how much you like food, one day you’ll find yourself chowing down to some strange “delicatessen” thinking to yourself “hmmmm… this is… nasty.” Hopefully when that day finds you, the food in question didn’t lighten your wallet too much…

Of course this is probably a strange occurrence for most people who don’t consider themselves “foodies” or “food snobs”.  This is simply due to the fact that the average person sticks to a grocery list of no more than 100 items when shopping.  This is startling in light of the fact that the average American mega-mart stocks about that many varieties of soup!  Of course, I’ve experienced this gag factor personally.  On several occasions I’ve had varying preparations of raw fish that I didn’t exactly find tasty.  Now those memories have long been forgotten until I stumbled across Sarah Copeland’s blog post “Offaly Brave” that featured rabbit…. ears, among other things (see picture at right).  Of course this doesn’t look half bad.  Anything deep fried has the potential of being rather good.  However, the brains…. not so much.

Who’s the mastermind behind some truly strange food like rabbit ears? Of course my curiosity got the best of me and I took a look at Offal Good. I’d show you a picture of the chef, but it gives me the willys, so go check it out yourself if you dare.

Oh, and here’s the brain recipe link: Brains!!!
